Three years ago, Encore.org partnered with The OpEd Project and Encore.org Senior Advisor Ann MacDougall to create the Encore Public Voices Fellowship.
The Fellowship is part of The OpEd Project’s national Public Voices initiative to change who writes history. And it’s part of Encore.org’s work to diversify and amplify voices at the four-way intersection of aging, longevity, intergenerational connection and social justice.
The time I’ve spent getting to know past fellows and selecting new ones convinces me that there are better days ahead, and voices that must be heard if we are to solve the multiple crises we’re facing.
Today I’m pleased to introduce 21 new Encore Public Voices Fellows, selected from more than 225 applicants.
Many work on racial justice issues. Others speak out against ageism, ableism, exclusion, inequity and social isolation. Some speak through art and film, using cultural and faith approaches to storytelling and activism.
Most important, all are bridging divides. All speak out for a more just and inclusive world. All have the courage of their convictions.
I hope you’ll spend a few minutes now learning more about this group. I know you’ll hear a lot more from them soon.
