Creative in Residence

ABOUT SCOTT

Scott Keoni Shigeoka (they/them/he/his) is the Creative in Residence at Encore. In this role, they provide brand strategy and creative consultation for a national effort to bridge generational divides.

They’re a former social impact leader at the design firm IDEO, writer for outlets like The Washington Post, and co-founder of two social enterprises in the U.S. and Europe. As an artist, they focus on topics like end-of-life care, queer culture and inequality through immersive experiences and physical installations.

Their work has been featured in The New York Times and Variety Magazine, and they have been awarded fellowships with Fulbright, MTV Networks, and at the Sundance Institute. They have been a visiting instructor for design, storytelling and social entrepreneurship courses at UC Berkeley and the University of Pennsylvania.
