LOS ANGELES, CA – February 8, 2017 — The EnCorps STEM Teachers Program proudly welcomes Marc Freedman to its Board of Directors. As founder and CEO of Encore.org, Freedman’s expertise and passion for the “longevity revolution” are aligned with EnCorps’ mission-driven work to help retirees, among others, transform into STEM educators in high-need communities.

His illustrious public service history includes helping to establish the AARP Experience Corps, spearheading the creation of the Purpose Prize to recognize social entrepreneurs in the second half of life, and instituting the Encore Fellowship for second acts focused on social impact.

Freedman remarked, “EnCorps is a brilliant effort to leverage the talent of seasoned STEM professionals to shape the next generation of teachers — and the kind of program that should spread throughout the country. I’ve been a fan and supporter for years and am honored to be joining the board.”

He was named a 2015 Legend in Mentoring (by Mentoring.org) and a 2015 Influencer in Aging (by PBS’ Next Avenue.org), as well as 2014 Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the World Economic Forum and the Schwab Foundation. Freedman is also a member of the Wall Street Journal’s “Experts” panel and a frequent contributor to the Harvard Business Review.
