Char Williams is “a voice for foster children.” Her encore story is the latest to be featured by our media partner, The Christian Science Monitor.
At a church meeting in her community of Tennessee Valley, Texas, Williams learned that the national organization CASA — Court-Appointed Special Advocates for Children -– needed volunteers to help shepherd the cases of neglected or abused children through the court system.
“We are not there as legal experts. I’m the person who the child sees often, someone he gets to know, someone who asks, ‘How’s it going in your foster home?’ — someone who sends cards on a birthday.”
Char has been a voice for more than a dozen children, and mentors the child’s parents as well, to help them reunite their family. Read Char’s moving story of commitment and compassion in The Christian Science Monitor.
