As I tour the country, introducing people to The Encore Career Handbook, folks everywhere are telling me they’re worried about the still-sputtering economy. If you’re in the job market, finding work can seem daunting, and a little scary. But I’ve recently met some folks who are using their skills and experience (some newly acquired) to help.
People like Lorraine Decker (pictured right), a longtime financial planner who has built an encore career by teaching people how to land better-paying, more fulfilling jobs and preparing high school kids to do the same.
Do you have an encore career that allows you to help those hit by the recession? Or, have you braved the tight labor market to follow your passion toward an encore that serves the greater good?
We’d love to hear it.
Share your encore story including any advice so we can showcase it on Encore.org and our social media pages (with your permission). Authors of our five favorite stories will each receive a free, signed copy of The Encore Career Handbook. You can post your essay of 250 words or less in our LinkedIn group, or email it to us at encore@workman.com by Friday, March 29.
We hope to hear from you!By the way, if you’ve already read The Encore Career Handbook and like it, please say so on social media or write a review on Amazon, Goodreads or your favorite online outlet. And please meet me on a stop of the national book tour. If you’re not in one of the tour cities, there will be online events, too!
