I spent nearly two decades as founder of a search and career-counseling firm in New York City, placing hundreds of senior to middle management clients in jobs in the financial services industry globally. In the 2000s, I also helped hundreds successfully transition to more suitable careers. Prior to all that, I served as Vice Consul at the Iranian Embassy in Paris, France – one of only 11 women diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Now that I am based in San Francisco, I am hoping to serve the search and coaching needs of the Bay Area’s innovative companies, especially people in their encore stage, helping them transition to more fulfilling jobs to meet their inherent gifts and skills.
In an era when there is so much ‘mis’ everything –miscommunication, misunderstandings, mistakes etc….it was a real joy to experience in specific detail what Encore.org has done and possibilities it embodies for the wisdom that often comes with ages 50-70 and beyond.
As a career guide for people who have been blessed with many birthdays come and gone, I hope to pass on the encore mission…specifically the transformational transitions that can simultaneously encompass personal growth and contributions to society.
There is so much wisdom that can only come with age and experience and introspection. It is the belief of many of us that all the challenges of life are truly gifts to teach us and enable us to learn from each other.
I’ve just been reading a book by the Franciscan priest, Richard Rohr, who best summarizes the enhancements of later years…’It is the things that you cannot do anything about, and the things you cannot do anything with, that do something with you.’
