I’m excited to tell you about an opportunity to change the public conversation about issues at the intersection of aging, intergenerational connection and social justice.

It’s called the Encore Public Voices Fellowship, and we’re opening nominations for a second group of fellows. We’re looking for the big thinkers who deserve more support and attention — and whose voices are desperately needed. Now’s your chance to nominate yourself or encourage someone you know to apply.

Last spring, Encore.org partnered with The OpEd Project and Ann MacDougall, our former president, to identify and support a diverse group of 20 new and necessary thought leaders who could help shape the public narrative in new ways.

We have been floored by the results!

The fellows asked big questions — like how to close the race gap in healthy aging, how baby boomers can reshape philanthropy, and how we can normalize friendships between old and young. And they posed solutions, like cross-generational alliances to fight climate change.

With training, coaching and support provided by our partners at the OpEd Project, they have published dozens of op-eds, been interviewed for scores of podcasts and articles, and been invited to speak at national conferences. Several are finishing up books; one is taking his film on the festival circuit.

Take a quick look at what they’ve accomplished here.

We’re now looking for the next big thinkers. So please share this note widely and/or apply yourself today. The deadline for applications is June 26.

Looking forward to hearing from you! And please help us spread the word by sharing this tweet.

We have many people to thank for a great first year of the Encore Public Voices Fellowship, including our partners at the OpEd Project and our founding team of advisors — Mary Curtis, Ken Dychtwald, Ellen Goodman, Trabian Shorters, Sree Sreenivasan and Lester Strong.
