The newest Encore.org story featured by our media partner, The Christian Science Monitor, is that of Larry Jemison, who once delivered mail and now delivers opportunity to schoolkids in Cleveland, OH.

Jemison spent decades working his way up to the position of senior letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He began his retirement with a plan to make no plans. A year later, while attending a community event, he stumbled upon his encore, and signed up as an AARP Experience Corps  tutor in Cleveland’s public schools.

Larry says he was skeptical that he could make a difference. Six years into his encore, his “kids” have proven him wrong. Read Larry’s story here.
