The Purpose Prize is the nation’s most prestigious prize for creative problem-solvers over the age of 60. It recognizes those who best exemplify the encore spirit: individuals with the energy and passion to apply their decades of hard-won experience, wisdom and skills to solving some of the world’s toughest problems.

Please use the form below to submit a nomination or self-nomination for the 2015 Purpose Prize.

Before doing so, you can save yourself time by determining if you (or the person you wish to nominate) are eligible for The Purpose Prize by carefully reviewing our list of frequently asked questions, application timeline, and selection process. All applicants must be 60 or older by the application deadline, and cannot have started the work being described in their application any younger than age 50.

Please note that by nominating yourself there are tax implications.

If you are submitting a self-nomination, you will be directed immediately to the application portal. If you are nominating someone else, they will be notified about their nomination via email and will be invited to apply. Please make sure the individual knows you have nominated them so they can be on the lookout for the email invitation. Encore.org does not share the nominator’s name or contact information with the nominee or with the general public.

Nominate yourself or someone you know below by January 15, 2015. Please note: this is NOT the application form – it is an intent to apply. The person being nominated will receive an email inviting them to electronically submit a full narrative application by January 30, 2015, 11:59 p.m. EST.
