Koko Kawasaki is the community builder for Encore.org’s Generation to Generation campaign.
Formerly a graphic designer, Koko returned to school in midlife to pursue a career in psychology. After one semester, she became a family caregiver to her aging father, who was developing dementia and a host of other health challenges. This experience led to increased awareness and concerns about the aging population. Koko earned a Master’s degree in gerontology in 2014.
Koko has since worked in various aging-related organizations supporting a diverse population of older adults living independently in their communities. Her interest areas in aging include health and wellness, lifelong learning, personal enrichment and social engagement. In her free time, Koko enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and going for long walks in nature.
